The Old Quarter consists of 36 old streets named after the kind of goods or crafts that used to be made or sold on those streets. After the cyclo ride, walk around Hoan Kiem lake and visit Thanh Ha wet market to have a look at the local life. Conclude your walk over a cup of delicious Vietnamese egg coffee at a hidden café nestled inside a tiny alley. HANOI IMMERSION
Step into a sanctuary of calm, where a lush garden of fragrant herbs and tropical fruits sets the stage for an inspiring culinary journey into the heart of Vietnamese tradition. Surrounded by greenery, embrace the pleasure of cooking while discovering the philosophy that defines Vietnamese cuisine—where fresh herbs, balance, and simplicity create timeless harmony.
Your experience begins with a lively cyclo ride to Dong Xuan Market, offering a glimpse into Hanoi’s vibrant street life and bustling food culture. Continue to a peaceful garden house hidden within the city, where nature and tradition blend seamlessly. Stroll through the verdant garden and hand-pick fresh herbs to be used in your cooking.
Under the guidance of expert hosts, explore the foundations of Vietnamese culinary heritage, learning the importance of herbs and spices, the delicate balance of flavors, and the beauty of simplicity that elevates everyday ingredients. Then, roll up your sleeves and take part in a hands-on cooking session—chopping, sautéing, seasoning, and plating authentic Vietnamese dishes from scratch.
The experience concludes on a sweet note with a homemade dessert and a traditional Vietnamese treat, leaving you with lasting memories of flavor, culture, and refined simplicity.
In the afternoon, explore the tourist attractions of the city. Hanoi’s imperial legacy stretches back more than a thousand years, enriched by the remarkable diversity of ethnic communities that shape the city’s cultural identity. Visit Tran Quoc Pagoda, the oldest pagoda in Hanoi dating to the 6th century. Continue to the Thang Long Imperial Citadel, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that once stood at the heart of Vietnam’s ancient capital. Although much of the complex was destroyed during the French colonial period, archaeological excavations have revealed impressive remains dating back to the 11th century, highlighting its historical significance. In the evening, experience the Temple of Literature after dark on a captivating night tour that brings Vietnam’s first national university to life through light, sound, and storytelling. As the historic courtyards glow under soft illumination, uncover the legacy of Confucian learning and centuries of scholarly tradition. This atmospheric evening visit offers a unique perspective on one of Hanoi’s most revered cultural landmarks.
Note: The night tour is available on Wed, Sat and Sun (19.00 – 22.00) only. In case of unavailability, the night tour will be replaced with a Water Puppet Show. It is a unique Vietnamese art form performed in a large pool using the water as a stage. It is considered one of the most traditional and important parts of Vietnamese culture. You will also enjoy the Vietnamese orchestra, which provides the background music for the show. The orchestra is manned by an array of talented singers accompanied by professional musicians performing with traditional musical instruments.
