Upon arrival at Hanoi's Noi Bai International Airport you will be welcomed by your guide holding a sign with your name on it. He will escort you to your hotel (approx. 1-hour drive). Check in time is after 2 PM.
If time permits, in the late afternoon, down time with a one hour cyclo ride around the Old Quarter in the heart of Hanoi. A cyclo is a bicycle cab with a roof, pedaled by a driver who sits behind you, allowing you to immerse yourself in an old atmosphere of an area that perfectly captures the timelessness and nostalgia of Vietnam. The Old Quarter consists of 36 old streets named after the kind of goods or crafts that used to be made or sold on those streets, such as Hang Dao (Silk Street), Hang Bac (Silver Street), Hang Duong (Sugar Street), and Hang Muoi (Salt Street). After the cyclo ride, walk around Hoan Kiem lake and visit Thanh Ha wet market to have a look at the local life. Conclude your walk over a cup of delicious Vietnamese egg coffee (hot cocoa/ smoothies or juice for kids) at a hidden café nestled inside a tiny alley. Hot café Trung, with its rich taste of coffee, creamy egg yolk, and sweet condensed milk, will leave you smiling.

BAT TRANG CERAMIC VILLAGE AND CITY TOUR
In the morning, enjoy a creative and family-friendly escape from Hanoi with a half-day visit to Bat Trang Ceramic Village, one of Vietnam’s oldest and most famous craft villages.
Depart from your hotel with a private guide and travel to Bat Trang, located along the banks of the Red River. Upon arrival, take a gentle walk through the village’s narrow lanes, where traditional houses and family-run workshops showcase generations of ceramic craftsmanship. Visit a local pottery studio to learn about the history of Bat Trang ceramics and see artisans shaping, glazing, and firing their creations using time-honored techniques.
The highlight of the tour is a hands-on pottery workshop, where both adults and children can try making their own ceramic piece on a potter’s wheel. Guided by a skilled artisan, enjoy shaping clay into a bowl, cup, or small decorative item—an engaging and memorable experience for the whole family.
Continue with a visit to the Bat Trang Ceramic Market, filled with colorful pottery, tableware, and souvenirs, offering time to browse or shop for keepsakes. After the workshop, relax with a short break at a local café before returning to Hanoi, bringing home not only souvenirs but also shared family memories and handmade creations.
In the afternoon, visit the Museum of Ethnology which offers a fascinating introduction to Vietnam’s cultural diversity, showcasing the traditions, lifestyles, and heritage of the country’s 54 recognized ethnic groups. Through rich collections of artifacts, photographs, and immersive outdoor displays, the museum provides deep insight into how communities across Vietnam have lived, worked, and expressed their identities for generations. Afterwards, visit Tran Quoc Pagoda, a 6th-century pagoda peacefully set on West Lake, and revered for its elegant architecture, centuries-old history, and spiritual significance. Continue to the Temple of Literature, Vietnam's first university established within the temple in 1076 to educate the mandarin class. The university functioned for more than 700 years, from 1076 to 1779 during which a good number of 2,313 doctors graduated.
The tour concludes with an unforgettable Water Puppet Show. Water puppetry is a unique Vietnamese art form performed in a large pool using the water as a stage. It is considered one of the most traditional and important parts of Vietnamese culture. You will also enjoy the Vietnamese orchestra, which provides the background music for the show. The orchestra is manned by an array of talented singers accompanied by professional musicians performing with traditional musical instruments.
